    Since medical gameplay is currently dead (or at least I can't find any beacons/help requests when I'm online) and bunker missions often end up being a crap-shoot I've been kinda flying aimlessly around Arc Corp recently. In the meantime I've been thinking about classic Hornets and since I really like how they look (and remembered CIG talking about wanting to remove them from in-game stores) I decided to pull the trigger and bought myself a Ghost Mk1.

    Why? Honestly, I just thought having one would be neat. I haven't really done any dogfighting since 4.0 dropped and this purchase finally pushed me towards trying to get over my dislike for the current flight model to learn how to fight again. It's been... rough.

    Not due to difficulty as I'm just doing basic patrol and Gibby's gauntlet missions but rather due to technical issues. Pretty much all of my outings had the problem of enemies desyncing and zipping from place to place, making targeting practice as much of an aim as divination exercise. It's not impossible but it's hard to decide how much of my slow aim has to do with being rusty and how much can be attributed to the game. I'm sure I'll get some kind of answer if I stick with it long enough but that will take a bit.

    Other than that I'm mostly waiting for 4.3.2 at this point, hoping it'll bring something new I could sink my teeth into (and hopefully enjoy the Aurora rework). If not that then at least I'll get to play on fresh servers for a bit - I need properly working enemies to train man!

    4.3.1 has been a bit of a rougher patch than 4.3.0 for me. Does anyone have any similar feelings or am I just unlucky with my server performance?

    I've been on a hiatus, sandworms bit me. But my friend said they would like to play some SC soon so I updated the game and for a test switched to Vulkan. I'm positively surprised that not much has changed in ship mechanics, so I don't have to rebuild my erkul builds. Not that I was able to earn enough (in-game. I don't intend to pay more RL money after game package) to buy even one ship that would be better than my starter

      Heh, it kinda does at the moment.

      Not much changed since 4.0 in terms of flight model but an updated version is currently in testing by "secret groups" so who knows when we'll get it. Probably not with 4.3.2 considering how Yogi's comments about the thing sounded when patch notes from the thing leaked recently.

      I'm also sticking to just game package for real money purchases, anything else is bought in game. Since I don't really do any cost intensive gameplay nor spend money on things I don't really need or want, buying a Hornet was something I could do on a whim.

      What's your starter? I'm curious how expensive a ship would have to be to improve on it.

        I'm flying in a Nomad. But I might be kind of special, after I rented a few ships I don't think a Cutlass or C1 are an improvement. Those only have more cargo space but slower pitch, with the same shields. I was testing out different weapons and the ones that are agreeable with me depend a lot on pitch and speed of the ship. To me it seems like (apart from Vulture and Prospector, to unlock other loops) the next ships that would be an improvement are Corsair or Taurus. With outfitting that's 8-9M. And I couldn't get Vaughan to give me missions with nice cargo, even with cheesing his missions. Only once I got a target with valuables.
        I know that now supposedly one can try to steal the cargo in abandoned hangars in Pyro. But the last time I tried it (few months ago), ship despawned in the middle of QT. I've seen in the comments under YT videos that for some it does the same in current version

        So mostly I abandoned the idea of saving for another ship soon. I've been chlling out in Pyro, trying to get rep with Prosperity (Headhunters are not cool in my book), maybe they will have something interesting to offer on higher levels

          Another option is to earn a ship from Contested Zones or Wikelo.

            Oh, right. I was thinking of checking out CZs. I am afraid of organized groups farming the cards for "whatever-day-that-was giveway", though. But definitely I'll check those out

            Wikelo, to me, was an unbearable grind. Even before it was worth it to try to mine the unobtainium he wants

              Welp, I glad I'm sticking with cost efficient ships and play style - 8-9 million sounds like a ridiculous grind (at least the way I play). Do you usually play with friends or go solo? I know you mentioned friends wanting to jump in recently but I'm thinking in general.

                Yeah, for me 8M is also unimaginable to reach in a focused way. It will happen in some time but I can't be actively focusing on that

                Mainly I play with my buddy we have matching TZs with. I'm playing too late for EU and too early for most of Americas, so while we have an org, my circle of people I can wing up with has always been kind of limited

                  I can only play at night so that's exactly my experience as well (though in my case there's also my general tendency to play solo). How's the activity among your folks outside of the timing context? Even if I'd like to play with people I've meet in the game in the past most of them haven't been online in months (or years in case of like half of them) - seems like you have better luck with that?

                    Well, it's hard for me to say ATM. In general our group has always had "RL first" motto, so we don't check up on activity. It's normal and fine to disappear for a year or two for academia or moving states. Our SC group is rather small too and a bunch of them weren't big on chatting on discord. Some members I've seen more often online in-game than writing something on SC channel. So with me and my buddy playing Dune, I've lost visibility on that

                    For sure one guy is waiting for medical gameplay to be fixed and another one from Dune group started playing SC. But that's all I know for now

                      Well, it's hard for me to say ATM. In general our group has always had "RL first" motto, so we don't check up on activity. It's normal and fine to disappear for a year or two for academia or moving states. Our SC group is rather small too and a bunch of them weren't big on chatting on discord. Some members I've seen more often online in-game than writing something on SC channel. So with me and my buddy playing Dune, I've lost visibility on that

                      I have an illogical and personal dislike for discord as a platform as well as extremely case of shyness so joining existing communities is almost an impossible task at this point. I appreciate the offer though.

                      I feel for your medical buddy. I've been waiting for some progress on that front as well but with bunkers getting medical beds in the next patch I'm less and less sure we'll get to see any significant gameplay for that any time soon. Maybe once NPC rescue missions become a thing or something...

                        Yeah, I'd prefer something open too. But before I started playing ED I haven't really been using any chat and thats where the community is. And now we have so much custom code around it that moving would be even harder

                        Bunkers are getting med beds? I'm not big on the whole full-on simulation with drinking and manually moving cargo but even for me that sounds ridiculous

                          Yup, there are already rooms prepped for that in LIVE right now (without beds) and I've seen PTU screenshots with T1 beds implemented and working. I think there are also some in the smaller shelter POIs though that makes sense at least.

                          I'm really not sure what their plan for medical gameplay is at this point. On one hand they post a long article detailing what they want to do, on the other they constantly make decisions undermining the need for this loop. Best we can do is wait and see, I guess.

                              I guess that's true. I haven't really died in bunkers in a long time so I honestly forget some people struggle with them (or are just victims of bugs).

                              I'm really not sure how much more available ship beds could become - we already have multiple medical ships, anything more would probably be something like making ALL ship beds into medical beds which would be completely mental. I really wish they would still post design docs like they used to do in the past, it would make understanding their intentions much easier and cut down on a lot of anger within the community left to guess what's what.

                              I pretty much moved on to learning how to dogfight again at this point. Haven't seen a med beacon in months so I might as well do other stuff in the meantime. Hopefully there will be something to return to eventually.
