On the other hand, this is a role already existing manned AA vehicles were designed for. Depending on how well these new PDTs perform it might lead to those older releases feeling even more useless than they currently do.
I'm curious how they'll compare in practice.

True. The cyclone AA needs to be re-evaluated as it's just a bad platform even before the MDC was thought about.
