      @bitinn away from pollution.
      Not near wherever garbage is kept, not close to any engineering departments or docking areas.

      Deliberately in low traffic areas. Once those needs have been met it would likely be on surface to get a view (assuming that’s safe) or closer to the core, if the outside surface is deemed unsafe due to war or whatever.

      Beauty is sought or created.

        E.g if you can’t get a view of space, then if there is some impressive engineering feature to have a view of, that could be seen as nice. As long as the noise pollution from that thing doesn’t reach the home.

        For example cities are seen as ugly, unless you are far from it and get a view over the city.

        A bridge up close is dirty and noisy with traffic. In the distance it can be a striking addition to a skyline.

          bitinn@mastodon.gamedev.place I think The Expanse touched on this briefly, about how the poor tended to live on the outer edges of the ring due to the Coriolis effect or something? I don't quite remember.
