@eeeee when Mastodon posts enter NodeBB we save the html in the database as-is (and sanitize it on output). This is different from NodeBB internally which saves markdown into the database. The spoiler plugin might not be matching the symbols because from remote communities the line begins with
>! spoiler instead of just with >! itself.

@scintilla@lemm.ee that's the main thing for me too. That news orgs, political agencies, and corporations use Xitter to communicate is the real travesty.

@לאצי hah! That's an interesting request! We sort of store this in the backend with a tids_viewed set, but I'm not certain whether or not we actually update it every time you enter the thread. For less busy forums, just going to https://community.nodebb.org/recent is usually ok.

A remarkably frank video about how tariffs will affect American small businesses in the climbing industry.

@djensen47 that's quite interesting, and it was just a matter of time before "intermediary" apps start to go mainstream.
  • Federating between two test instances?

Assuming that both FooBB and BarBB are identical, then there should be no reason that federation does not work. In reality of course, there are lots of reasons that can get in the way of things Are you able to reset the category synchronization settings on both categories so that it's blank? You should be able to have FooBB add general-discussion@barbb.mydomain.tld, and vice versa, using their handles. That's the tested approach. It might say pending at first but NodeBB should automatically confirm the follow and "pending" should go away. If it doesn't, then it's a sign that something happened along the way that interrupted the follow-accept handshake. For AP logging, run NodeBB in development mode: NODE_ENV=development or ./nodebb dev.
  • Allow Manual Username Selection During Google SSO Registration

@shraga100 hmm your options are fairly limited out of the box, unfortunately. The Google SSO plugin is pre-populating the usernames upon registration mostly as a convenience measure, so the name is recognizable (and most times, what they want to show). Of course that's not always going to be the case, and especially in situations where you have username changes turned off, that could be problematic. A possible solution here would be to write an additional feature to the Google SSO plugin (or perhaps a separate plugin) that would introduce an registration interstitial to prompt for a username change, but it seems pretty niche, to be honest.

@emperor@feddit.uk it is! The in-development stuff I'm working on makes it much easier to post directly to a Lemmy community. This is probably the first, yes. It was also a bit of a live test at the same time.
